What is the problem with your iPod?

A File Restore Professional scan will locate and recover your deleted or lost files. If you are experiencing difficulities with your iPod then you may see the following symptoms:
A sad or unhappy iPod icon appears on the iPod screen.

If your iPod displays a sad face then this is an indication that there may be a mechanical error/failure on the drive. This may unfortunately require a visit to an Apple approved technician. If you can put your iPod in to disk mode (see below) then it will become visible to Windows. Once the iPod is visible to windows then you can run a File Restore scan and you can then recover and save all your iPod files.
An exclamation point and folder icon appears on the iPod screen.

If your iPod displays an exclamation point and folder icon, then this can often appear due to a data transfer/communications error. Run a File Restore scan and you can then recover and save all your iPod files. You can now Reset or Restore your iPod. A Restore will put your iPod back to its original factory settings. Once you have done this then you can then transfer all your recovered files back to your iPod.
I synchronised my iPod with another copy of iTunes and lost all my files.
A File Restore Professional Advanced scan will locate and recover all your files. The files can be saved to an alternative drive and the files then transferred back to your iPod.
I did an iPod Restore and lost all my files.
An iPod Restore will return the iPod back to its original factory settings. An Apple Restore is the same as reformatting a computer. When an iPod is restored the files will no longer be visible on the iPod. However, a File Restore Professional Advanced scan will locate and recover all your files. The files can be saved to an alternative drive and the files then transferred back to your iPod.
