Download and save the FRN_BootDisk_Creator.exe file to a healthy Windows computer and launch the BootDisk Creator by double-clicking the FRN_BootDisk_Creator.exe file. When the BootDisk Creator is launched you will be presented with the option to create a bootable CD/DVD or a bootable USB device. Select and create your recovery service BootDisk.
1. Insert the newly created BootDisk into the computer that will not boot and press the computer’s power-up button.
2. Watch for a message on the screen that provides details regarding the computer’s start-up options, and select this. This message will vary depending on the age, type, BIOS manufacturer and version, etc. N.B. This message will only appear very briefly, typically for a second or more. If you miss the message the first time then re-start the computer and try again.
If no start up information appears then this could mean the computer is set to boot in “quiet” mode. In this case, a particular key should be pressed to access BIOS or One-Time Boot options. This is vendor specific, but is frequently, <F12>, <F2> or <DEL>.
3. With the start-up options listed, select the option to boot from a CD/DVD or USB device and this will launch the BootDisk start-up sequence. It is recommended that you let the BootDisk automatically default to the Normal Startup mode.
4. After approximately one minute the recovery service will start and you will be prompted to connect to the computer with FileRestore for Networks.
5. Install FileRestore for Networks on a healthy Windows computer. N.B. There must be a physical wire/network connection between the host computer, where FileRestore for Networks is installed, and the non-bootable client computer where the BootDisk recovery service is running. If there is no physical connection detected by the BootDisk then you will be prompted to make the connection/manually input the IP Address, etc.
FileRestore for Networks is available Here: http://www.pcrecovery.com/filerestore-for-networks
6. The BootDisk recovery service will display the IP Address of the computer on which it is running. To connect to this computer, the IP Address must be typed in to the FileRestore for Networks “Connect To” screen and the computer “connected to”.
When the computer that would not boot is "connected to" with FileRestore for Networks, the computer can now be scanned for lost files, image files created, etc.
