Scenario
Due to a recent change of the harddisk strategy of the server (from a stripe-set to a mirrored system), and the change of the backup strategy, some important directories with both private and business data were lost. Unfortunately, the tapes of the backup system were already reused and overwritten. The data was therefore believed to be permanently lost!

Solution
My wife was looking for some very important files - from a particular directory. The directory had however been deleted and was no longer available. The deletion of the directory had been unnoticed, and unfortunately as my wife´s "personal administrator" I was the culprit. I was getting more desperate from day to day. Microsoft do not offer such valuable data recovery tools. I therefore began researching for a tool to undelete the important data.

I found a couple of software products, installed them and found that they were much too complex, not easy to manage, etc. Some of these products were also extremely expensive, and importantly did not recover the lost data.

I searched the internet and found a link to download FileRestore Professional. I installed it, and within seconds (!) I found what I was looking for! The entire directory structure with all the files, approximately 16 Gbytes of data, was available to recover! I immediately purchased a copy of FileRestore Professional and was able to get back all of the files! In the evening, when my wife returned from a meeting, she was overwhelmed to have all the data back. Thankfully, family life also returned to normal!
